Triathlon Training Camps
"Athletes who know 'why' will always have an advantage over those who only know 'how' - the challenge is to understand and be good at both."Over the last eight years, Barry has learnt the art of running sucessful training camps through his coaching role within Triathlon New Zealand.
He has coached and managed teams of athletes both locally and internationally, from novice to elite level, and enjoys the special camaraderie that stems from these events. He organises and runs triathlon camps for youth and age group athletes, catering for all levels of ability.
The focus is on Olympic distance racing (1500 mtr swim, 40k bike, 10k run) as opposed to Ironman distance. The camps combine the theory of 'why' with the practical of 'how' with a carefully planned balance of learning and doing.
"I just wanted to send oyu a note to thank you ever so much for a brilliant weekend. I didn't really know what to expect signing up for this camp but what I can say is that this has been the best value for money I have spent in my sporting life time. I have learnt so much and the environment was non-threathening and ever so supportive." - Kristen Burnett, Triathlete
"I just want to say a huge thank you for all your coaching tips and inspirations over the weekend. It was so neat to be in a group of positive forward-thinking enthusiastic people and I have come home feeling very inspired. I really appreciated the fact that you didn't make us small tri/sprint tri people feel like we were any less than those striving for Worlds or Ironman or anything higher. You valued us all for who we were and what we were trying to achieve individually. I loved your sense of humour and the way you gently pushed us to push ourselves.
I loved the camp. I loved the venue. I loved
the companionship. I loved the mix of activity and theory. Can't wait to
get to the pool and practice what I've learnt. You are a legend."
- Heather Lupton, Triathlete
